Welcome Fellow AD/HDers!
Life at Full Throttle transports the reader into the unpredictable world of the AD/HD adult in a manner that is highly engaging, while providing insightful and well-researched information on the topic. As a clinical psychologist, I have evaluated over two thousand individuals for AD/HD, and have developed a well-grounded understanding of the type of information that is most helpful for AD/HD adults. Having lived with this condition my entire life, and being a mother who has parented two children with attentional deficits, I speak of AD/HD with both insight and humor.
I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting and evaluating AD/HD adults, and I am indebted to these clients and their families who opened up their hearts and minds and helped me to develop a richer understanding of how this condition impacts a wide range of people on a daily basis. This book distills my years of clinical practice and personal experience in a manner that is both humorous and educational. I hope that you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it!

"Many authors may have attempted to explain what it's like having Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity DIsorder, but this author effectively brings the reader inside the mind of someone with this condition. She exquisitely understands, and readers who are affected by AD/HD (patients themselves and those who live and work with AD/HD may, for the first time, self-identify and perhaps now understand and learn to cope with this puzzling condition."
- Comment from iUniverse Editorial Evaluation
"This is one of those books that every adult with ADHD needs to read and, for that matter, parents of children with ADHD will find the information useful too. Life at Full Throttle is fast paced and filled with very helpful tips and suggestions, right along with the personal experiences of Dr. Catherine Avery. As you read this book, you will be nodding with agreement and sometimes you may wonder if she is writing about you. I know I did. It's funny too. Don't miss this addition to your ADHD library, because it won't be complete without this book!"
- Bryan Hutchinson (Author of One Boy's Struggle: A Memoir - Surviving Life with Undiagnosed ADD)
"OMG!! I love your book!! I'm half way through it (which is amazing for me, being ADHD and Dyslexic). I've recommended your book to everyone I know with ADHD or who has a family member or friend with it. It is such a ray of sunshine in a sky full of boring, technical books." - Kathy A. (AD/HD Adult)
"I got your book in the mail yesterday and started the first two chapters. I was laughing so hard, my children thought I was going to need oxygen. It's very insightful, I haven't read anything else like it - and have read quite a few books on AD/HD. Thank you, for your wonderful book, I hope it will help us get some perspective." Denise L. (AD/HD Adult)
